Allergy therapy
has become an important cornerstone in offering a complete and
co-ordinated holistic approach to weight loss, optimum athletic
performance and better health. The scarcity of local allergy clinics
and the underfunding of allergy services in the NHS have made dealing
with allergies near impossible for many, so much so that many sufferers
do not even realise they are suffering from allergy.
Marek is
a member of the BIAET (British Institute of Allergy and Environmental
Therapy) and integrates the techniques refined by the Institute to
treat allergic problems, having established a state of optimum
nutrition to provide the strongest possible platform to restore health
quickly.
Allergy is simply
defined as an abnormal response by the immune system to the
environment. This abnormal response can manifest itself in a number of
ways. There are different ways to categorise allergic reactions, the
most relevant way of doing so is to separate reactions into categories,
giving you:
- Type A
reactions:
generally
instant, involve IgE antibodies and histamine, cause anaphylactic
reactions which, in extreme cases like anaphylactic shock, can be
life-threatening. Commonly referred to as Food Allergy. Most people
with Food Allergies know which food they are allergic to, but often
this is not the
case
- Type B
reactions:
delayed
onset, involve IgG antibodies, no involvement of histamine, are often
considered masked as they can indirectly cause a host of different
issues. Weight gain, constant tiredness/illness, aches, headaches, IBS
are all examples of this. Commonly referred to as Food intolerance.
Most people with Food Intolerances are not aware that they even have
intolerances, even though it is quite common (70% of households suffer
with intolerance).
The
NHS offer skinprick testing, which
is a suitable test for Type A allergic reactions. However, if will not
detect any Type B reactions, which are a lot more common. Some doctors
do identify with the importance of Type B reactions, but too many
(including so-called allergy-experts) prefer not to concern themselves
with
them!
Diagnosis method
Comprehensive
Test - £125
(Combined
ELISA/Muscle Test)
This
test is actually a combination of the two
best methods of allergy diagnosis: an ELISA bloodtest and
muscle test (using Kinesiology techniques). Blueprint Fitness
is the only company to offer this combined service.
A
finger is pricked to draw a tiny bit of blood, which is then diluted
and spread across a allergen tray containing samples of 59
allergens. This tray reveals raised elevated of IgG antibodies, a
reliable sign of intolerance, and these results are ready in 40 minutes.
However,
while waiting for the blood test results, Marek also performs the
Muscle Test. This is a non-intrusive test that exposes the
patient to number of allergens and tests a muscle for a response;
allergic reaction causes an immune reaction that temporarily interrupts
the normal function of the muscle. This
test reveals Type A and Type B reactions (food allergies and
intolerances). Tests reactions to foods, household goods and
environmental chemicals, rather than just food only. Tests for
inhalents and a number of food substances, although patients are
encouraged to bring in extra foods/chemicals that they would like to be
tested with.
This combined
test sets new standards in reliable,
informative and user-friendly allergy testing. Better
testing allows for better understanding and quicker recovery.
Treatment
Treatment
advice will vary depending on the individual. Marek treats
allergies using a combination of strategic nutrional interventions and
the desensitisation protocol developed by the British Institute of
Allergy and Environmental Therapy. By restoring healthy digestive/
immune function as well as targeting specific allergies for
desensitisation, Marek avoids the pitfalls of most allergy therapy that
aligns itself with one intention or the other. This is intelligent
allergy therapy backed by a strong nutritional protocol.
Allergy
is a complex and multi-faceted condition that effects individuals in a
variety of ways. Treatment recommendations will reflect this, often
composed of uprated nutritional intake, hormonal rebalancing,
an exclusion diet and desensitizing solutions as appropriate.
